In the operating room, anesthesia will come into contact with different patients, and the pipeline is directly connected to the patient's respiratory tract. Improper disinfection will lead to cross-infection in the hospital. At the same time, regular maintenance of the anesthesia machine could not only maintain the performance of the anesthesia machine in the best state, but also increase the service life of the anesthesia machine to a certain extent and improve its safety. This article will introduce the maintenance and disinfection methods of the anesthetic machine.

How to maintain the anesthesia machine?

Maintenance methods of anesthetic machine

A. Machine maintenance

During the non-operative period, the anesthetic machine should be stored in a light-proof, dry and ventilated place. At the same time, the functions of the components of the anesthetic machine should be tested regularly by professionals to ensure its good performance.

Outside:

The display screen and button part can be wiped with a dry cotton cloth, and the surface of the anesthesia machine can be wiped with a wet cotton cloth. Then put it in the operating room for natural purification, or use ultraviolet light to irradiate and disinfect.

Inside:

There are many metal parts in the anesthesia machine, which is easy to rust and corrosion in the humid environment. Therefore, after each operation, the stagnant water inside the anesthesia machine should be poured out, and then air or oxygen should be used for continuous drying for about 5 minutes to ensure that the environment inside the machine is dry. If there is dust inside the anesthetic machine, it can be removed by a vacuum cleaner.

B. Airbag maintenance

After each operation, the stagnant water in the airbag should be cleaned in time to make the interior clean and dry. In order to avoid adhesion during the use of the airbag, the surface of the airbag should be maintained with silicone oil every 3 to 6 months.

C. Maintenance of anesthetic evaporation tank

After each operation, the remaining liquid in the anesthetic evaporation tank should be discharged in time, and the air flow rate should be increased to make the evaporation chamber dry. Calibration should be carried out once or twice a year to ensure the accuracy of the concentration of the anesthetic gas output.

Disinfection method of anesthetic machine

A. Cleaning

The breathing tube of the anesthesia machine can be cleaned first with soap solution, and then rinsed with clean water. As the respiratory tube is directly connected to the patient's respiratory tract, it is easy to residual sputum scab, so it is necessary to focus on examination after cleaning to avoid residual stains.

B. Disinfection and sterilization

At present, the commonly used disinfection methods are high-pressure steam sterilization and boiling sterilization. The effect of high-pressure steam sterilization is the most reliable and is suitable for parts that can withstand high temperature. The highest temperature of disinfection and sterilization is 134 degrees Celsius, and the time shouldn’t exceed 20 minutes. The boiling sterilization method is suitable for metal and glass parts. The boiling time should last 10 to 15 minutes. Don’t add other devices in the boiling process, otherwise it is necessary to recalculate the boiling time.
